A Golden Globe and Emmy nominated actor, Australian-born Simon Baker has an impressive background that spans both film and television, capturing the attention of audiences worldwide. Baker can currently be seen playing Patrick Jane’ in the hugely popular series The Mentalist on CBS. Currently in season 4, Baker plays a former ‘psychic’ scam artist who now uses his gifts of human observation to help the California Bureau of Investigation. His performance has earned him both Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor in a Drama Series. The Mentalist is one of the networks highest rated shows, breaking viewing records right out of the gate. Baker recently completed production on the Working Title romantic comedy I Give It A Year directed by Dan Mazer opposite Rose Bryne and Anna Faris. Baker was last seen in Margin Call, a thriller which
revolves around the key players at an investment banking firm during a 24-hour period in the early stages of the 2008 financial crisis. The film features an ensemble cast including Kevin Spacey, Stanley Tucci, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto and Demi Moore. The film was selected to receive the annual Robert Altman Award at this year’s Independent Spirit Awards, which is given to the film's director, casting director and ensemble of actors. The National Board of Review also named it one of their Top Ten Independent Films of the year. Baker and producer Mark Johnson have also acquired the screen rights to the award-winning novel Breath written by Tim Winton, one of Australia’s best-known and most celebrated novelists. Baker and Johnson will produce with Baker also playing one of the lead roles.
